ReplyDeleteMovies I saw this week:
Wall-E: loved it. I also had a little problem with the live-action stuff, as well as nitpicky science geek stuff (like why people fell to one side of the ship when it tipped over). Overall it was really great, though.
The Incredible Hulk - loved it. I thought it was way better than the 2003 version, and much more of a Hulk movie like what I want to see. More smashing, cool action sequences, etc. I'm looking forward to the next "Avengers" tie-in movie, whichever one it turns out to be. I know they're making a Captain America movie, as well as Thor and Ant-Man, but I don't know which is coming out first. If they're as good as Iron Man and Hulk, though, I'll enjoy them.
@ Scott...
ReplyDeleteThe next Avengers-related Marvel films are going to be Thor and Iron Man II in 2010. As far as Ant-Man is concerned, there's still no release date set for that one. Captain America and the actual Avengers film are slated for 2011.
Shit, we gotta wait until 2010 for the next one...? Considering Iron Man and the Hulk were released so close together, I was expecting the next one to be right on the heels of these, coming out next summer at least.
ReplyDeleteAll we're getting from Marvel next Summer is the Wolverine movie.
ReplyDeleteYou've piqued my interest so I've decided to see what's coming out next summer. We have:
ReplyDeleteWolverine
J.J. Abram's Star Trek (wasn't this supposed to come out in 2008? Ah well)
Terminator 4
Pixar's Up
Transformers 2 (bleh)
G.I. Joe (bleh)
Where the Wild Things Are
Fantastic Mr. Fox (new Wes Anderson)
Avatar (James Cameron)]
and maybe Jurassic Park 4.
Nowhere near as exciting as this year. Almost every week there's been a new movie out I want to see. 2008 will be remembered as an awesome summer for movies, methinks.
Last year had a big summer for movies too: Spiderman 3, Shrek 3, Pirates 3, Ratatouille, The Simpsons, Grind House, Die Hard 4, Transformers, etc.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Summer '09 is concerned, Where The Wild Things Are is set for October, The Fantastic Mr. Fox is slated for November, and Avatar's not until December. Avatar shall remain my most anticipated movie of 2009 right up until it's release, I suspect. I've been waiting for a new James Cameron action/sci-fi masterpiece since before Titanic.
Other movies I'm interested in seeing throughout 2009 in addition to (some of) those you've mentioned are:
Hellraiser (remake)
Coraline (Neil Gaiman adaptation)
Watchmen
The Wolf Man
Dragonball
Bruno (as in Borat's gay Ali G show co-star)
The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3 (remake)
The Box (the new Richard Kelly joint)
Shutter Island (Scorcese & DiCaprio at it again)
Nottingham (Ridley Scott's pseudo take on Robin Hood)
Surrogates (Bruce Willis; based on a comic book)
Congrats on the en-GAY-gement, Jesse!
ReplyDeleteNo serously though, congrats.
I'm the same age as you and I don't kno what I want at all, so I really had no idea what you were talking about, but what i did gather is that apparently at some point people go, "Hey, I want to marry you forever." And that's totally cool.
I will find out from you in private how old your fiancé is...
P.S. Hellboy and Wolverine will be done sometime between now and your wedding. :P
