Hearing wizard was stopping publication was kind of like an obscure actor dying. You liked they stuff they did a while ago but you stop paying attention a long time before their death so your not that broken up about it. That being said I didn't really miss wizard until I listened to this episode.
ReplyDeleteThe world is a slightly different place since I ran to the comic shop to pick up wizard on a monthly bases. Comic book resources, bleeding cool, newsarama are on top of everything. then the fact that every artist you like is on DA or twitter, facebook, has a blog, is on a podcast, youtube, ustream you name it. Back in wizards heyday, you got your comic book news from...wizard. That was it. You wanna know who was drawing xmen after adam kubert? well you better go pick up wizard. I still remember when wizard debut the first image from Steampunk.
comic book movies, heroes and LOST all killed wizard. I can't remember the last time I went into the shop and noticed a comic book cover, drawn by someone I liked on the stands from wizard. In the end wizard just looked like one of those really cheap thrown together "official" magazines that popular TV shows and movies have, you've seen them at borders but you've never bought one.
oh well, I salute you old wizard.
Wow. Seriously, awesome show. The "warning" was hilarious and made me want to listen to it even more. You'd think Jesse punched Rian's mom in the face, and then they started talking about the Matrix sequels. Great show guys!
