ReplyDeletei don't like Fright Night either. YAWN.
Galaxy of Terror and Forbidden World are pretty good, i love that stupid shit. have you seen Carnosaur? that's another great Corman one.
I just saw the Fright Night trailer before Green Lantern the other day, and it did nothing to make me more interested in seeing the remake. I'm generally not into vampires unless we're talking about John Carpenter's Vampires or something really bizarre/different like Lifeforce.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen Carnosaur. Honestly, with a few exceptions (The Stuff, Dark Star, etc.), I've never been one of those people who likes to watch bad sci-fi/horror movies either because they're bad or despite the fact that they're bad. I think the reasons that I decided to get Galaxy Of Terror and Forbidden World were that they were on sale and I've been collecting/watching A LOT of MST3K lately, which may have increased my tolerance for really bad movies.
Part of me regrets that I bought those 2 movies because I don't honestly know if I'll ever watch them again, but part of me likes the idea of having some obscure, weird movies on my shelf. I'll watch pretty much anything, so if I can find Carnosaur I'll definitely give it a watch. I know it's not available from Shout Factory like GoT and FW were, but I may be able to find it on Netflix or something. I do kind of want to watch some more Corman sci-fi movies now, but I have a feeling that it's a phase that will pass before long.
you trying to get me riled up by called The Stuff bad again, man? you trying to hurt me? go ahead if it makes you feel better. ;)
ReplyDeletei always just toss movies i don't watch anymore. right in the trash (or recycle bin for the cases since they're recyclable!). better than collecting dust in my (very small) apartment in the shelf space i don't have.
Look, I like The Stuff, but you can't deny that it's a B-movie. I defy you to deny it. Go ahead...deny it.
ReplyDeleteI'm far too precious with my movies, etc to just throw the things away even if I'm not that into it. I treat my DVDs and Blu-rays as a collection the same way that I do with my comics, and I couldn't bring myself to throw away a comic either (unless it's in bad shape). If I really don't want something, I'll trade it in for cash/credit at a record or video store, give it to someone who might want it, or donate it to the local library. Throwing a functional DVD or book into the garbage seems like such a waste.
I DENY IT.
ReplyDeleteyeah it's kind of a waste chucking that stuff, you're right. i used to feel like that and i do donate most of the comics i don't keep either to libraries, book sales, or goodwill, but there's a part of me that gets fed up with all this STUFF around me all the time and i get frustrated with the idea that i have to spend all this time and energy to simply get rid of an object that i no longer want or need. i can't justify jumping through hoops trying to find an owner for like, some Mad Max DVDs or something which i think were the last things i tossed, or whatever, i just want to throw it away like the object that it is. it's just a thing, and i've done enough coddling of possessions in my lifetime that i'm at the point where i'm old and cranky and GET THIS SHIT OUT OF HERE, haha.
i think the thing i'm most precious about is maybe the dumbest thing, toys. i always imagine some little kid somewhere who'd love my stupid monster toys so i do what i can to try to find a way to donate those or pass them on to a kid who might not be able to find them or afford them.
i think i'm the most unforgiving with movies for some reason, though i have tossed comics in the recycle bin, like i usually throw away/recycle the stuff i have no respect for or have lost respect for, culturally-speaking, if that makes any sense. so i'd rather the thing just be in the trash where it belongs, haha. >:D
