aw, thanks for talking about Shadoweyes, Rian!!!! :D really glad you dug it, and thanks for the kind words about my stuff in general. and Jesse, thanks for the purple compliment!! :D do you guys feel weird that i listen to the podcast and you're talking about my stuff? am i cramping your style? XD
ReplyDeletei'm the author so i'm kind of incapable of looking at my own objectively, but i also recommend not skipping Wet Moon 1 if you can help it. the series isn't plot-based at all, but there's a lot of character set-up and information in the first book.
i'm not that familiar with Jorge Zaffino but a quick google search says he died in 2002 of a heart attack at age 43. :( maybe you guys have already looked that up by now. i remember seeing Zaffino's stuff in the old Hellraiser comic. i gotta check out Winter World!
Rian, i kinda feel the same way as you about Bill Hicks. i don't find his material that funny but i like listening to what he has to say on more of an informational, philosophical level, i guess, but i'm not a big fan or anything. definitely an interesting guy, though, and i thought the documentary was pretty well made.
You bet, Ross. I didn't feel weird talking about you/your books because you listen to the show. Maybe I'd feel different if we brought you up because you listen, but I mainly just wanted to pimp Shadoweyes because I really did enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI did look up Zaffino after the show and was relieved to see that he was dead. Wow...that sounds bad. Rather, I was relieved to see that I was not mistaken about him being dead. I was tweeting about him and Brandon Graham sent me a link to some Conan stuff he did for Savage Sword, which looks amazing. We've got a lot of those old Hellraiser back issues at my comic store, so I'll have to try to track down his issue.
Yeah, it's like I respect Bill Hicks, but never fell in love with him. The documentary actually did make me like him more because I know more about him now. It's like those rare occasions when you'd be forced to read about something in high school and ended up actually being very interested by it. I'm glad we watched American for the show.
