  1. Good show, boys!

Good god! Jesse, I know exactly what you mean about obsessing with things. My wife will call out me over-doing stuff all the time.

I'm with Jesse on the Avengers trailer. I thought it looked cool, but think A LOT of people are going bananas for it. I thought it was cool, showed enough, and didn't tell the whole movie like a lot of trailers do.

I must say Jesse seemed overly hard on Moneyball. I haven't seen it yet, but am still wanting to. They probably would've done better making "Billy Beane and the Sorcerers Stone." :D

  2. I'm not really going bananas for the Avengers trailer. I'm moreso going bananas for the Avengers movie. This wasn't the most amazing trailer of all time or anything, but it showed a bunch of superheroes from other movies I like all together, which just gets me excited as hell for the movie.

  3. the Moneyball conversation was hilarious. i'm still not quite sure what exactly Jesse didn't like about the movie! XD

i watched Curse of Frankenstein and liked it way more than Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll! pretty good stuff. Peter Cushing is definitely awesome. i'm going to watch a few more but i can't see myself going on a Hammer binge. i'm checking out The Reptile next which sounds cool.

  4. I get what Jesse didn't like about Moneyball. What I don't get is how it ruined the movie that much for him. To each their own, but I think it's unfortunate that he seems to be robbing himself of the experience of enjoying a great movie because of an admittedly small fault (if you can call it that). I stand by my opinion that it's easily one of the 5 or 10 best movies to come out this year.

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed The Curse Of Frankenstein! You should definitely watch The Revenge Of Frankenstein. It's a good direct sequel, and perhaps my favorite of the franchise. Overall I didn't like the Dracula films as much as the Frankenstein series, but if you want to check one of those out, Horror Of Dracula (the first one) is the way to go.

Cushing is the man. I ordered a book called The Art Of Hammer recently which is a collection of a lot of their movie posters, and I'm basically using it as a catalog to decide which other Hammer movies I want to see. I made a list of pretty much anything Cushing and/or Lee are in and I'm doing my best to track them all down.

That said, I haven't seen The Reptile yet, but I definitely want to. It sounds like Hammer's attempt to create their own "classic" monster for a change instead of just remaking other films like Dracula and Frankenstein.

  5. i'll have to check out Moneyball, i'd never even heard of it until this podcast. i guess it's harder to watch people get things wrong or take liberties when you're an expert on the topic, especially if it's based on a true story.

looks like i have to download Revenge of Frankenstein, it's unavailable on netflix! i'm supposed to get the Reptile next, looking forward to it. unless Attack the Block is available, that might come next. FINALLY.

  6. Yeah, Netflix is kind of random when it comes to which hammer films they offer. Attack The Block is definitely a good watch. The best part is the creature design. Their look is really striking and original.
