  1. glad you're okay, Jesse!!! dang, that's scary. i've had an "omg i'm gonna die" moment, years ago i was driving back home from Boston in the middle of the night, trying to beat a snowstorm home, and i got caught in the snow. it was pretty light stuff so i didn't worry, so i was driving on a straightaway just rocking out to music or whatever when suddenly i lost control of my car and went spinning. i was basically zooming sideways and backwards on the highway, sliding on the ice, and i drove off the road and hit the guardrail with the back of the car since i was sliding backwards. i sat there in the car for a few minutes, perpendicular to the road. this was around 1:00am so nobody else was on the road, and this before i had a cell phone, so i realized i had to get out of there, that was the only way. a little ways earlier i'd seen a "Rochester- 50 miles" sign so i was like fuck this, it's only 50 miles, and i drove out of the ditch, my engine roaring because the ground fucked up the muffler. anyway it was totally like you're saying, Jesse, all slow motion "oh my god this is it" when i was spinning around on the highway and flying off the road. WHEW

i love The Fly, it's one of my all-time favorite movies. i saw it when i was younger so i've been watching it for many years, i've probably seen this thing as many times as i've seen Alien and Jaws.

Jesse, did you watch the deleted monkey-cat scene? that's my favorite scene even though it's not actually in the movie, i get why they cut it out but i think it was a mistake doing so. it sets up Brundle's fusion process he tries to do in the finale scene, and it's the only scene that shows how painful Brundle's transformations could be. you never see him actually transforming except for the final Brundlefly metamorphosis, which seems completely painless in contrast to the agony of the fly leg busting out of Seth's side and him gnawing it off. such a good scene.

  3. I'm honestly surprised that there isn't a cut of the film available with the monkey-cat/side-leg sequence edited in. They've obviously got all of that footage lying around, because it was on the special edition DVD.

  4. Thanks Ross! It was freaky.

I can't imagine spinning in a car. That would freak me out.

The Fly was great! I really want to watch that 2 hour making of that Rian mentioned. it sounded really interesting. I didn't see any of the special features or deleted scenes because I watched it on Netflix (though I guess I could just YouTube it. In fact I'm going to check it out now!)

And I smell a future featured review!

yeah, spinning in the car at 80mph was scary, although i don't actually remember much about it or what i was thinking when it was happening.
