  1. it was great chatting at SPX! man, i wish i got a copy of Monsters Monsters Monsters after hearing you guys talk about it...! sounds great.

    ROCKY!!!
disclaimer: i love all the Rocky movies (totally agreed on Rocky 5, Rian), and i have no nostalgia for them because i never saw them until i was an adult, and Jesse is right that all 6 movies basically say the same thing about the same character, with little variation here and there. and it's cool if you don't dig Rocky 6, Jesse, i don't mind, but in trying to explain why Rocky does what he does i think you guys are missing a key aspect of the character: he returns to boxing in Rocky 6, against all odds and common sense, because he's a fighter. that's his core, like he says in Rocky 4 you can't change anything and all you can do is go with what you are. the end. that's basically the main thread through the entire series.

regardless of whether you buy Rocky going however many rounds against Dixon, the concept is sound: what old person wouldn't want to revisit their glory days if given the chance?
