ReplyDeleteI feel like Jesse never swears, in fact I felt bad every time I did during the recording of the prediction shows. So, to hear "Argo fuck yourself" three times in a row was quite a shock.
I wear cardigans, not sweater vests. There's a difference, get it right.
Rian, why ya gotta hate? I've always defended your love of American Reunion. Also, Safety Not Guaranteed is certified fresh, so suck it.
I don't hate, I just disapprove. Safety Not Guaranteed in the Top 10 of the year? Bleh. And I'll be sucking nothing. Since when do I give a damn about what Rotten Tomatoes thinks? Since never. That's when.
DeleteANG LEE HULK RULES. RIAN, I GOT YOUR BACK, BRO
ReplyDeletethanks again for including me in this! yesss, UniSol: Day of Reckoning at #13, haha.
i have Dredd on my queue and should be getting it next week, i'm excited. i really have to see Django, too. i didn't put Looper on my list because i haven't seen it yet!!! i didn't get a chance to see it in the theater but it's on my queue, i swear! i like Brick a lot, haven't seen Brothers Bloom, and i'm sorry i missed Looper in the theater. :( i very well might love it and retroactively put it on my list, it sounds great. i also really want to see Magic Mike and Argo.
OH MAN, THE GREY. it's a perfect storm of cinema for me, it's not just about the action, the horror, the death, the merciless nature, but the requisite clincher, for me personally, is the angst. it's not just an action-horror-survival movie, it's also got macho dudes with feelings and moping about past mistakes and existential crises about life and love and having sentimental moments filtered through a gruff macho lens. i love that shit. manly-men being angsty, that's what it's all about. a sweet spot also hit by UniSol: Day of Reckoning. ;)
man, the more i listen to you guys the more i feel like we are on completely different wavelengths regarding movies. i haven't heard of half these 2013 movies you guys are talking about and most of the ones i have heard about i'm pretty indifferent to (Edgar Wright stuff) or hostile to (Star Trek 2). listening to you guys i'm realizing that i'm not sure if i care that much about movies much anymore, heh. what happened to me, my younger self would be so upset at the drag/wet blanket that i've turned into. i mean i'll watch them, i like renting stuff from Netflix, but it takes a HELL of a lot to get me actually excited and especially to get me out to the theater, which is near impossible. i don't know what my problem is. maybe i'm just depressed or really bored or too focused on my own work or all of those things.
definitely looking forward to Fast Six, though, and Pacific Rim looks pretty cool but i'm not sure i'll get my ass out to the theater for it. my absolute #1 movie i'm pumped for is Riddick 3, though, you guys have no idea. i've been waiting for that with baited breath since 2004, heh.
i don't care much about the Marvel movies but the only one i'm interested in is Thor 2. if you'd told my past self a few years ago that the only one of these characters i'd give a shit about is Thor, i'd have laughed at you. i have zero interest in Thor in the comics but movie Thor rocks.
Human Centipede 3 is supposedly coming out this year which i'm excited about, the first one is good but i frickin' loved the second one. that might be my #2 most anticipated movie this year, after Riddick 3 (despite being scheduled, i'll believe it when i see it. they've been teasing this for years so i feel like it's too good to be true).
hey now, Jason Biggs is working, he voices Leonardo on the new Ninja Turtles show! ;)
I won't say that I "think" you'll like Dredd, Ross, but I hope you do. It's a blast. It seems like something you'd like, but I also feel that me saying that is somehow cosmically going to result in you not liking it.
DeleteI didn't know you were a Brick fan. I think that's still my favorite Rian Johnson movie, but Looper was really good, too.
I get the angst angle on The Grey. Personally, I just found Universal Soldier: Day Of Reckoning confusing. What could be called angst seemed to me like a guy staring at the wall a lot, lost in some kind of hypnosis. And every now and then he'd fight someone.
I get your feeling on movies and not being that excitable anymore. When I was really young, my dad used to play lots of video games with me, but over time he stopped playing video games altogether. I remember being younger and thinking, "How can he just stop liking video games? I'll never get tired of these!" And now I don't follow video game news at all and I'm lucky if I play one or two games a year. I just don't get that excited about them anymore. I'll buy that new Aliens: Colonial Marines game (if it EVER comes out!) and any new Portal or Uncharted games, but otherwise my PS3 is basically just my Blu-ray/DVD/Netflix device. I can't feel myself ever becoming apathetic about movies, but then again, I used to say the same about games.
I think I mentioned this on the show, but I really need to watch Chronicles Of Riddick again. All I really remember was the awesome part where Riddick and another character were running from the sun on the surface of that prison planet.
I still haven't seen The Human Centipede 2 yet. Yours is officially the only positive reaction to it that I've heard. I still want to see it, though.
Has Leonardo ever fucked a (pizza) pie? Sorry...that was pretty bad.
Oh, and ANG LEE HULK 4 LIFE!
