Rian, i appreciate your dedication to watching the shitty SHIELD show so i can hear you complain about it every week. :D
ReplyDeletei'm sorta with Jesse on Henry. i saw it several years ago so i don't totally remember it, but i remember having a similar reaction. it's not BAD it's just... something.
hmmm, the Godfather of horror movies... if we're going simply by how many people have seen it, maybe Jaws or Alien, yeah, but i think another contender would be Night of the Living Dead.
I like that! "it's just... something."
DeleteThat is great!
Night would definitely be a contender for the Godfather of horror movies.
It's really hard to choose though.
I know what the people want, and the people want to hear me bitch about S.H.I.E.L.D.
DeleteI think the "Godfather of horror movies" would have to be something that's well established in the public consciousness (not something that only fans of the genre are familiar with) and considered by the majority to be really good. Jaws, Alien, The Exorcist, Psycho, and (now that you mention it) Night Of The Living Dead are probably the frontrunners. If I had to back a particular contender (despite my own personal preferences), I'd probably say that The Exorcist best fits the bill. Jaws is certainly a well-known, beloved film, but I think that on some level The Exorcist embodies the idea of a "horror" film more than Jaws does.
shit, i totally meant to reply to your Pacific Rim question but i forgot to mention it in my first comment! i saw Pacific Rim in the theater, it was okay. i didn't love it but didn't dislike it. i think it's one of the only giant monster movies i can think of in which i enjoyed the human scenes more than the monster scenes.
