  1. i love those old Romero movies! i really like Land, too, actually, i saw that 4 times in the theater. i hated Diary, ugh, but i like Survival a lot. i don't know if you guys would like that, though.

i used to like Return of the Living Dead, i guess i still do, but i cooled on it a lot over the years and i only like parts of it. i like the build-up to the zombies more than the zombies themselves, i love the set-up with the two guys in the mortuary just goofing off, then them trying to dispose of the first zombie, but when the zombies arrive en masse i don't like it much after that. and all the stuff with the punk kids is pretty boring and annoying, except i love the one lead punk guy with the chain in his nose. "nobody understands me. i bust my ass for you guys and all i get is 'you're spooky'. you think this is a fuckin' costume? this is a way of life!" haha. that's my favorite part of the movie.

i might be getting this wrong and i'm too lazy to check wikipedia, but i think the thing with Dawn in Italy, was that over there it was called Zombie or Zombie: Dawn of the Dead, so that was ostensibly Zombie 1, and Fulci's was Zombie 2. but when Zombie 2 was exported outside of Italy, since everywhere else Dawn was known by its original title, calling Fulci's movie Zombie 2 made no sense.

have you guys watched the other cuts of Dawn? the extended edition is really good, and the Dario Argento Italian cut is really weird, it feels like a different movie.

  2. I love Return Of The Living Dead front to back. I just think it's a lot of fun. Not as noteworthy as any of the Romero films, but considering that it was one of the (if not *the*) first zombie comedy/parody/homage film and it's (imho) successful, I think it deserves to be a part of the zombie conversation.

To the best of my knowledge I've only ever seen the theatrical cut of Dawn. I have the Blu-ray and it doesn't say anything about being extended or anything. I'm curious to see a version that Dario Argento had his hands in, though.
