Fantastic show! Was able to draw a whole page during it.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking I'd buy more comics digitally, but I'd only be able to use my computer and just have made the leap. If I had an iPad I probably would get more. I don't buy too many printed comics right now either though because the new baby... I get lots of trades, unless something like Loose Ends pops up.
The Raid looks sick!
Thanks, Nico.
ReplyDeleteRight now I have the feeling that even if I did get an iPad I'd probably download a few comics right away and then kind of give up on them because of my collector's mentality. I can see myself downloading a comic to try it out, liking it, and then buying the physical comic out of a feelling of completion. I dunno. I feel like my brain just isn't wired for digital comics.
i thought maybe the DC pink mystery lady was Providence, remember her?? the Pink Void?
ReplyDeleteloved the discussion about DVD/comic organization and collecting vs. digital etc. good stuff. i can't imagine myself ever going digital, i think if things shifted over to digital en masse that i'd probably stop reading comics/books and stop buying movies, which sounds okay to me.
the big appeal of digital is the space-saving, i'm at a point in my life where i hate having shit all over the place and also that my apartment just can't store it. but on the other hand i hate watching movies on my computer and i can barely get through webcomics. something about the screen, i don't know.
i guess i'm pretty old-fashioned in terms of media. i still watch VHS tapes, i don't have a blu-ray player/discs and i've only seen one blu-ray movie at a friend's house (Alien!!!). maybe someday i'll get into blu-ray, maybe when my current dvd player konks out which looks like it might be soon.
i used to buy a TON of shit when i was younger, mostly toys and statues, i was a fiend, but these days i don't have much because of a combo of things: i don't have the money anymore, and maybe i'm getting old or i'm a miserable bastard or whatever but i just don't like that much stuff anymore. i find it hard to muster interest in most movies or comics these days. i don't feel like i need to be entertained by those things as much anymore, so i try to pare down to the stuff i really love.
yeah! The Raid! everyone is asian in it because the movie is Indonesian.
Back when I worked at a toy store for a few years in high school, I used to buy TONS of action figures. I kept 98% of them in their boxes and they are mostly sitting in my basement now. I just lost interest in them. Movies and comics are still a big point of interest for me though. I did start sifting through my comics and pulling out some stuff to get rid of this week, though. Hopefully we can talk about that on the next episode.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if I'd noticeably buy less comics if I stopped working in a comic store.
My iPad really does make it easier to read digital comics. Without it I would probably be slower into getting into them.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for listening!
