it should probably come as no surprise but i love Night of the Lepus!! so good, haha. i remember being so pumped when they released it on DVD. i also like Dolls. >:D i like how the little girl doesn't care one bit that her dad dies and she happily runs off with the dork guy as her new dad. yayyy
ReplyDeletei watched To Catch A Killer on youtube last night after listening to this episode, and it's definitely amazing. super good.
i gotta check out Tall Man! i feel like maybe you've mentioned it before, Rian, but have you seen the director, Pascal Laugier's previous movie Martyrs? pretty sure i remember you talking about it...
It doesn't surprise me that you're a Lepus fan. You should totally draw a giant rabbit for your Halloween drawing next year!
DeleteDolls was just weird. The tone was all over the place and the story had no flow. It was just a mish-mash of random scenes featuring varying degrees of horror and humor. It never quite came together for me.
Holy crap! I had no idea that the same guy who directed The Tall Man was the director of Martyrs! I have seen Martyrs. I remember hearing that it was one of those movies that's so gross you'll have trouble sitting through it. I don't really agree with that sentiment, but that's what made me want to see it and I ended up liking it quite a bit. I thought it was odd that the movie started as a torture film, then became a kind of ghost/demon haunting story, and ended up being torture porn-ish again with a hint of high-concept sci-fi right at the end. The last segment with the skinning and the secret society stuff was my favorite part.
The Tall Man is definitely worth checking out. If you listened to our entire review you won't have the great revelation moment when the final twist is finally revealed, but I still think it's a good watch. Jessica Biel really surprised me with her performance.
