Late?! Nah, kidding... I didn't have time to listen Sunday or Monday anyway...
ReplyDeleteGreat show! Great trailers... I hadn't heard of Haywire or In Time and both looked very cool. Haywire reminded me a bit of Hanna.
I think doing something with comic like you do movies at the end of the year is an awesome idea.
American Vampire is CRAZY good, IMO. I've only read the 1st hardcover (collecting #1-5), but I love Rafael Albuquerque's art in it. The art is just really fresh. Scott Snyder and Stephen King trade off stories in each issue and it's done nicely. I totally think they deserve the Eisner.
I like Scotty Young, but think his art is over-rated. Don't get the multiple Eisners he's won (nothing against him).
Cap ruled.
We've dabbled in the "best of the year's comics" thing before, but I think the problem is that it's harder to remember all the comics you read at the end of the year than all the movies you saw. I would kind of like to give it another go, though.
ReplyDeleteIs King still working on American Vampire? I picked up issue 6 (I think) and saw that his name wasn't in it as a writer, so I dropped the book. I wasn't that into it anyway. I like Albequerque, but not enough to buy a book just for him, I think. Not sure why. I prefer his pin-ups/covers to his layouts/panels most times.
Yeah, nothing against Skottie young. His stuff just isn't my cup of tea.
Cap did rule.
I'm sure best in comics is a bit tougher...
ReplyDeleteKing is off it, but I like Snyder just as much. I'm not one to argue whether someone should/shouldn't read a book, but the Eisner for them was totally deserved.
